What is Wakfu?

Wakfu is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG), which takes place in a medieval fantasy world created by Ankama Games.

What is an MMOG?

An MMOG, or Massively Multiplayer Online Game, is a video game which is played on the Internet. Thousands of players connect to the game from a computer and then access a vast world. In this world, made up of islands, forests, cities and creatures, players can play with or against other players, hunt creatures, explore dungeons, practice a profession, create a guild and much more.

Do I need an internet connection to play?

An internet connection is essential to download and play Wakfu.

Can Wakfu be played solo?

The first gaming hours can be played solo and will allow players to get familiar with the characteristics of their character and the world and history of Wakfu. Once players are comfortable with the combat and magic system, they will be able to start exploring and venturing through the world with other players.

Is it a "turn-based" game or is it in real time?

The combat system in Wakfu is turn-based with game mechanics that encourage action and strategy. You'll find in Wakfu the basic elements of tactical MMORPG which became popular with DOFUS ... like nimble thieves who are capable of thwarting traps, combative summoners, and magi who play with time...

Is the game based on the characters' skills or levels?

In Wakfu, both systems are used. On the one hand, just like in DOFUS, there is a level system (up to 200) which allows players to gain XP and improve the basic characteristics of their characters. On the other hand, spell skills evolve individually (from level 0 to 100).

Craft skills require a specific training with lots of practice. The more you repeat a recipe or an action, the more you gain experience to evolve in this particular field.

How many different classes are there?

All 12 classes from DOFUS will be available in Wakfu as well, but with new design and new spells. Discover them all in greater detail on the dedicated class section of the site!

Will it be possible to fight against other players?

PvP mode ("Player versus Player") will be an integral part of Wakfu.

When will the game be released?

No official release date for Wakfu has been given yet.

Which operating systems will run Wakfu?

The game will first be playable on Windows®. Then, later on, it will also become available on Mac OS® and Linux.

Will the game be free to play?

Just like in DOFUS, Wakfu will have a wide free to play area which will give players a good idea of the game content. Then, a pay to play system will offer a greater range of content. There will be a subscription system.
