You may have heard of them already... they're the stars of DOFUS and Wakfu, they're Rushu's Shushus. But who are they really? Find out all about them and more in the latest feature.

Who are they?

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting them before, let us explain. The Shushus are the thousand-strong minions of Rushu, Lord of the Demons. Each Shushu belongs to a particular element (water, fire, earth or air) and their powers are linked to their elemental essence

Little is known of the origins of these fierce creatures, but one thing we can be sure of is that they will do everything in their power to spread their evil throughout the World of Twelve. Carried by Ogrest's cataclysmic wave, they're back to haunt the age of Wakfu.

Shushus in Wakfu

Most of the Shushus have been banished from the world of Wakfu and reside in a parallel dimension called the Dungeon of Rushu's Shushus, watched over by the infamous Rubilax. Only the most courageous warriors will dare to venture there.

But what makes these Shushus so particular? Well, being strangers to the World of Twelve, they cannot ever truly be vanquished. Their demonic essence survives them and their souls can become imprisoned in inanimate objects. Imagine the incomparable power of a set containing Shushu souls!

The evolution of the Shushus

As Wakfu has evolved, so have the Shushus. We had to find a particular visual style that measured up to the evil that they cause in game... something fearsome and dark, but with that particular endearing Wakfu style.

The character designers, such as Xa', who developed the appearance of the Shushus had a brainstorming session and came up with a whole range of infernal creatures based on the four elements, ensuring that each one had unique personality that set them apart from the others.

For the in-game visuals, the graphic artists (like Inooni, for example) have a good look at the creatures that Fry and Rumo produce and then design items and other elements that are faithful to the characters' look.

From the very earliest drafts and sketches of the Shushus, we tried to emphasise the variety and different levels of strength that makes them such a diverse group. It's up to you to find them and take them on in-game.

Dungeon !

You'll soon have the chance to pit yourself against these monsters in their very own dungeon! The new 'instance' dungeon system ensures that your stay with the Shushus will be the best ever! With every group of players who take on a dungeon, a new scenario will be generated, so that you'll never have to queue up again, or have your next fight stolen from under your nose!

It is difficult to finalise any of these ideas until we have players to test them:

  • How will players react to the new approach to dungeons? Will we be able to deliver on all our promises about the gameplay?
  • The Shushus are a big step forward in terms of visual design. Will players recognise all the work that has been put into the graphics?
